It has been confirmed that this is not the case.
Our party failed to preemptively block this unconstitutional and unlawful martial law.
I am truly sorry.

Yesterday, the Minister of National Defense was arrested for treason.
The arrest warrant issued by the Korean judiciary identified the President as a key accomplice.
The gravity of this situation becomes clearer with time.

This violates the Presidents public promise to entrust his term and future to the party.
We appealed to the military and police not to follow orders to enter the National Assembly.
We led the call for the Assemblys resolution to lift martial law.

As the ruling party, we bear the responsibility of minimizing the chaos due to this crisis.
Based on past impeachment experiences, I recognized that impeachment often results in prolonged divisions and substantial harm.
However, these efforts have proven insufficient.

I believed that early resignation before the impeachment process would be a faster and more predictable resolution.
However, this was predicated on the President entrusting his fate to the party and the public.
That condition has not been met.

We must prevent further chaos.
I trust they will do so.
My only desire is for the nation to thrive and for its people to find peace.
